Telemetry: Server installation
To use telemetry, you must install the following on a computer: Remarks: - The computer where the telemetry server is installed must be a web server. A web server (IIS, Apache, etc.) must be installed on the computer.
- The HFSQL server and the telemetry server can be installed on two different computers.
- The telemetry server can be installed on a web server that also hosts a WEBDEV Application Server.
- Note: Telemetry does not work with non-transparent proxies.
Installing an HFSQL server HFSQL server setup The HFSQL server setup program is available in the WINDEV or WINDEV Mobile installation package. If you do not own this installation package, the HFSQL server setup can also be found in our site ( http://www.windev.com). To install the HFSQL server from the WINDEV/WINDEV Mobile installation package: - Start the WINDEV/WINDEV Mobile setup program.
- Select "HFSQL server setup".
- Then, select "Install or update an HFSQL server".
- Accept the license agreement.
- Select a platform ("For Windows on this computer").
- If there are HFSQL servers already installed on the current computer, select "Install a new server".
- Select the installation directory and specify the server name and port. The port 4900 will be used by default.
- Specify the login credentials of the user with administrator privileges that will be created by default on the HFSQL server. By default, this user is "Admin" and has no password.
- Install the HFSQL Control Center if it is not already installed or if it is not accessible from your computer.
- The wizard prompts you to configure the sending of notifications to identify server problems in real time. Select the desired option.
- The wizard allows you to enable the Active Directory authentication. Enable this option if necessary.
- You can help us improve by allowing us to collect information regarding the use of our products. This optional and anonymous collect allows PC SOFT to improve the product features.
- The installation is completed. By default (if you have not changed the administrator settings), to connect to the server in administrator mode, you must use the "Admin" user without password.
Note: For security reasons, remember to change the administrator password.
Installing a telemetry server The telemetry server is a WEBDEV Application Server dedicated to telemetry. To install the telemetry server: - Run the reserved server installation package (WX2025PACKRSRV.exe file located in the "Install\WDRServer" subdirectory of the WINDEV installation directory).
- If necessary, select the installation language..
- Validate the license.
- Select the module to be installed. In this case, choose "Install telemetry server (WDAnalytics)".
Go to the next step.
- If necessary, select the version of the reserved application server to be installed (32 or 64-bit). Go to the next step.
- Select the installation directory.
Go to the next step.
- Specify the characteristics of the HFSQL server used for telemetry (previously installed):
- Name of the HFSQL server,
- Port.
- Name and password of the HFSQL server administrator. This information is required to automatically configure the telemetry database and the associated user.
- Test the connection to check your parameters.
- Specify the parameters specific to the database used for telemetry:
- name of the database dedicated to telemetry (TLM by default).
- username and password of the telemetry administrator.
- This database and its user will be automatically created.
- Go to the next step.
- Specify the first day of the week. This information will be used to calculate weekly statistics.
- Validate.
- The wizard checks for a web server on the setup computer.
- If no web server is installed on the setup computer, the wizard prompts you to install and configure one to use the telemetry server.
- If there is a web server on the setup computer, the wizard prompts you to configure it to use the telemetry server.
- At the end of the installation, the wizard shows the telemetry login credentials. Keep this information. Use these login credentials to connect to the telemetry server from WINDEV or WINDEV Mobile.
Important: The reserved server settings are stored in the "C:\ProgramData\WDAnalytics\WDAnalytics.default.xml" file
This file must be added to the server backup plan. This file will have to be restored if the server is reinstalled or duplicated on a new physical or virtual machine with the same settings. - Finish the wizard.
Remarks: - If the database name is incorrect, you can restart the telemetry server installation to specify the correct database name and keep the same identifiers.
- A telemetry server in version 2025 is compatible with Windows applications compiled with earlier versions (e.g. with version 21).
