<Connection variable>.ModifyServerRights (Function)
In french: <Variable Connexion>.ModifieDroitServeur
HFSQL Client/ServerAvailable only with this kind of connection
Sets the rights granted to a user or group on an HFSQL server.
Remark: it's possible to find out the rights of a group or user on an HFSQL server using the <Connection variable>.InfoServerRights function.
Example
// Describe the connection
MyConnection is Connection

// Copy the rights from one user to another
Rights is string
Rights = MyConnection.InfoServerRights("Smith", hRightsCreateDB)
MyConnection.ModifyServerRights("Doe", hRightsCreateDB, Rights)
Syntax
<Result> = <Connection>.ModifyServerRights(<User/Group> , <Rights to modify> , <New values>)
<Result>: Boolean
  • True if rights have been modified,
  • False otherwise. HErrorInfo is used to identify the error. No modification is performed if the new value is already assigned to the specified rights.
Note: An "Unknown User" or "Unknown Group" error will be returned by the HErrorInfo function if the current user does not have the user viewing right (constant hDroitVisualisationUtilisateur) and is requesting information about another user or group.
<Connection>: Connection variable
Name of the Connection variable that describes the connection for which the rights of a user or group of users must be modified.
<User/Group>: Character string
Name of the user or group whose rights should be modified.
<Rights to modify>: Integer constant (or combination of constants)
List of rights to modify:
hRightsBackupRights to perform a backup.
hRightsChangePasswordRights to change the password of a user on the server (the user can change his own password and the administrator can change the password of each user).
hRightsChangeRightsRights to change rights.
hRightsCreateDBRights to create a database.
Note The right to create a database automatically grants connection rights to this database when it is created.
hRightsDisconnectClientRights to disconnect client computers.
hRightsManageServerRights to use <Connection variable>.SetServer.
hRightsManageTaskRights to manage the scheduled tasks.
hRightsManageUserRights to delete and add users or groups.
hRightsPriorityRights to modify the priority of the current application (<Connection variable>.Priority) or the priority of another client application (<Connection variable>.PriorityClient).
hRightsReadLogStatRights to see the activity statistics and the server logs.
hRightsSeeUserRights to see the information regarding the users and the groups.
hRightsSendMessageToClientRights to send messages to the client computers.
hRightsServerReplicationRights to set up and run a replication between two HFSQL servers.
hRightsStopServerRights to stop a server (<Connection variable>.StopServer).
<New values>: Integer constants
List of new values for the modified rights. New values must be assigned to all the rights specified in <Rights to modify> (in the same order).
If a single value is indicated in this parameter, it will be assigned to all the rights specified in <Rights to modify>.
The possible values are as follows:
hAllowedThe relevant rights are granted to the user or group.
hForbiddenThe relevant rights are not granted to the user or group.
hInheritThe right is undefined at this level for the user (or the group to which they belong). The HFSQL server uses the rights defined at the higher level. For example, a right defined at group level for a user.
Remarks

When are rights changed?

Rights are modified when <Connection variable>.ModifyServerRights is run. There is no need to restart the server to apply the new rights.

What are the rights required to add and/or to modify the users or the groups?

The table below presents the rights required to handle the characteristics of groups and users:
