Overview
WDAutomaticUpdate allows you to automatically or manually update the different PC SOFT products installed on your computer.
You can configure:
  • The temporary directory for downloading the updates.
  • The backup directory for saving the products before update.
  • Whether to use or not the automatic search for updates when starting the editor.
  • The different products affected by the update (whether it is a manual update or an automatic one).
How to proceed?
To configure WDAutomaticUpdate:
  1. Start "WDAutomaticUpdate" manually ("?.. Information on the Web .. Find upgraded versions on Internet").Start "WDAutomaticUpdate" manually: on the "Home" pane, in the "Online help" group, expand "Information on the Web" and select "Check for updates on Internet".
  2. In the wizard, specify whether the search for updates must be automatically performed when starting the products. If this option is enabled, the search for updates is performed every 7 days. This option is enabled by default.
    You still have the ability to find the updates manually ("? .. Information on Web .. Find upgraded versions on Internet") even if this option is disabled.You still have the ability to find the updates manually even if this option is disabled: on the "Home" pane, in the "Online help" group, expand "Information on the Web" and select "Check for updates on Internet".
  3. Click the "Options" link (bottom left). The configuration screen is displayed.
Configuration options

"General" tab

The "General" tab is used to configure the temporary directory for downloading the updates. By default, the updates regarding the PC SOFT products are downloaded in the following directory:
\My Documents\Temp\WDAU_DOWNLOAD\
The downloaded file is automatically erased as soon as an update is installed.

Configuring the affected products

The "Products" tab displays the products installed on your computer and taken into account by WDAutomaticUpdate. The automatic search can be disabled at any time for one of the products.
The list of disabled updates is displayed in the "Inactive updates" tab. To re-enable an update for a product, all you have to do is select and click the "Re-enable" button.
Overview
Automatic Update is an application that allows you to automatically or manually update the different PC SOFT products you own.
You can configure:
  • The start of the application.
  • The update download directory.
  • The bandwidth used.
How to proceed?
To configure Automatic Update:
  1. In the Automatic Update title bar, click .
  2. In the menu that appears, select "Settings".
  3. The configuration window appears:
Configuration options

General

The option "Start at Windows startup" allows you to automatically launch Automatic Update when Windows starts. This option ensures that an automatic search is performed at each startup.
Note: An automatic search for updates is performed every 24 hours.

Downloading

Two modes are available for downloading updates. You can:
  • Download updates automatically: in this case, you can install the update of desired product directly from "Automatic Update" ("Update" button).
  • Ask me to download: in this case, a message informs you that an update is available and proposes to download. You can also download the update for the desired product (via the "Download" button on the row of the product). A notification is also displayed at the top of the application. If several updates are available, the link "Download all" is displayed.
You can also:
  • specify an update download directory. By default, the updates of PC SOFT products are downloaded in the following directory: "C:\ProgramData\PC SOFT\AutomaticUpdate\Packages". To change this directory, simply specify another path.
    Note: When installing an update, the downloaded file is not automatically deleted.
  • indicate a download size limit.

Bandwidth

You can limit the bandwidth of downloads in the background as well as in the foreground.
