The DescribedName property is used to handle the logical name of HFSQL data files (ignoring possible changes made by HAlias). You can:
  • Find out the logical name of an element:
    • data file defined in the data model editor or programmatically,
    • view,
    • query
  • Define the logical name of a data file (when the file is described through programming).

// Find out the logical name of the Customer data file
ResName = Customer.DescribedName

Finding out the logical name of an element Hide the details

<Logical name> = <Element>.DescribedName
<Logical name>: Character string
Logical name of the element:
  • data file defined in the data model editor or programmatically,
  • view,
  • query.
<Element>: Character string
Element used (by indirection for example).

<Data file>.DescribedName = <New name>
<Data file>: Character string
Logical name of the data file used. This name is defined with the File Description type.
<New name>: Character string
Logical name of the element.
