In a window or page, the Multiline property is used to:
  • determine if an edit control supports multi-line text or make it multiline-compatible.
  • determine if a table control supports multi-line text or make a table column multiline-compatible. In order for the change to be taken into account, you must re-display the Table control (TableDisplay for example) or fill the Table control again.
In a report, the Multiline property is used to:
  • determine if a control supports multi-line text
  • modify the "Multiline" option of a control.
Remarks:
  • The "Multi-line" option is used to display the content of a control over several lines without truncating its content.
  • In the reports, the multiline option applies to the Static, Item, Calculated and Link controls. This option is located in the "Details" tab of the control description.

Determining if a control supports multi-line text Hide the details

<Result> = <Control used>.Multiline
<Result>: Boolean
  • True if the specified control supports multi-line text,
  • False otherwise.
<Control used>: Control name
Name of the control to be used.

Modifying the "Multi-line" option of a control Hide the details

<Control used>.Multiline = <Is multiline?>
<Control used>: Control name
Name of control to use.
<Is multiline?>: Boolean
  • True if the specified control must support multi-line text,
  • False if the specified control must not support multi-line text.

Multiline controls in a report

If an orientation angle is applied to a multi-line control in a report, the automatic carriage returns are ignored. Only the manual CR characters are taken into account.

Limits

  • Static controls,
  • Item controls,
  • Calculated controls,
  • Link controls.
WINDEV In a window, the Multiline property applies only to:
  • Edit controls.
  • columns in the Table controls.
