Overview
When installing the application, you have the ability to:
By default:
  • the summary of options chosen for setup will be displayed before starting the setup.
  • the wizard suggests the direct application setup.
These parameters are configured in WDInst (setup editor). To start WDInst, go to the "Tools" tab, "Utilities" group and click "WDInst".

  1. Select "Setup settings .. Wizard".
  2. Check "Display the summary page before starting setup".

Overview

Before starting the setup, you have the ability to display a summary of the options selected by the user. This summary contains the following information:
  • the installation directory of application.
  • the type of setup (full, minimum or custom).
  • the list of components installed (for a custom setup).
  • the details of modifications performed in the ".INI" files and in the "AutoExec.BAT" file (if modifications are performed).
  • the details of modifications made to the registry keys (if modifications are performed).

To display a summary of options chosen for setup:
  1. Select "Setup settings .. Wizard".
  2. Check "Display the summary page before starting setup".
Suggesting a quick setup

Overview

The setup program can suggest:
  • a quick (or direct) setup: If this option is chosen by the user, the application setup is automatically performed with the default options.
  • a custom setup: The user can configure the different setup options.

To configure a quick setup:
  1. Select "Setup settings .. Wizard".
  2. Check "Display the page proposing the direct setup in one click".
Remark: If this option is unchecked, the wizard will not display the step with the one-click setup suggestion.
Performing a silent setup

Overview

The setups of reference version and client version can be performed in silent mode. In this case, the setup will be done without any user intervention. The options defined by default will be automatically used.

Suggesting (or not) a silent setup

To configure the silent setup:
  1. Select "Setup settings .. Wizard".
  2. Check the option:
    • Silent client setup: the application setup for the end user does not require any user action.
    • Silent deployment of reference version (only available in a network setup with automatic update): the reference version of network setup will be installed without any user intervention.
Remark: If these options are unchecked, the wizard will display all the options required to install the application.
Displaying a license agreement

Overview

The setup of your application can start with the validation of a license agreement. The user will have to accept the terms of the license agreement before he can continue.
The license file will be displayed by the setup wizard. It can be:
  • in text format (".TXT").
  • in RTF format (".RTF" or ".WRI" for example).

  1. Select "Setup settings .. Wizard".
  2. Select a license file for each language supported by the setup program ("Select" button).

Displaying a "Readme" file

Overview

You can prompt the user to open a "Readme" file once setup is complete. For example, this file can provide information about the limitations of the software, help the user become familiar with the software, etc.
At the end of setup, the user will have to check "Display the "Readme" file" to read this file.
This file can be:
  • in text format (".TXT"),
  • in Word format (".DOC"),
  • in HTML format (".HTM" or ".HTML"),
  • in RTF format (".RTF" or ".WRI" for example),
  • in any format recognized by the computer where the setup is performed.

To display a "Readme" file:
  1. Select "Setup settings .. End of setup".
  2. Select a "Readme" file for each language supported by the setup program ("Select" button).
