Live Data: viewing data in the editors
The "Live Data" is used to view the content of the data files in the controls currently created in the different editors of the product used (window editor, page editor, report editor, ...). This feature allows you to configure the size of a control according to the data that can be displayed in the control. Caution: To use the "Live data", you must: - associate an analysis with the project,
- handle the existing data files.
How to implement Live Data? Implementing "Live Data" on the current project (window editor, page editor and report editor) To implement "Live Data" on the current project (window editor, page editor and report editor): - On the "Project" tab, in the "Project" group, click "Description". The project description window appears.
- Display the "Live Data" tab.
- Check "Enable Live Data".
- For each data file, specify if necessary:
- the type of data file: This option allows you to select the type of the data file that will be used in preview. Indeed, the file used can be any data file: HFSQL Classic, HFSQL Client/Server, Oracle, SQL Server, ...: all you have to do is select the corresponding connection.
Different types of data files can be used at the same time. - the directory: The directory can correspond to:
- "Automatic localization": the data file is automatically localized. You can also click "Automatic localization".
- "Test mode directory": the data files used are the ones defined for the Test mode (the directory is defined in the "Files" tab of the project description.
- "Directory defined in analysis": the data files used are the ones defined in the analysis.
- "Browse": allows you to select the desired data file.

The project description window appears.
- Display the "Live Data" tab.
- Check "Enable Live Data".
- For each data file, specify the file location. The "Automatic localization" button allows to automatically search for files. This search may take quite a long time.
- Validate.

If the data files used for "Live Data" are password protected, the password can be specified in the project options: - On the "Project" tab, in the "Project" group, click "Description". The project description window appears.
- Display the "Live Data" tab.
- Check "Enable Live Data".
- For each data file, specify the corresponding password and validate.
Remark: If the password is not specified for a password-protected file, the data found in this file will not be displayed.
