Overview
WINDEV, WEBDEV and WINDEV Mobile propose several methods to filter the records displayed in a browsing Table control:
Describing the Table control
The option "Display the records whose search key starts with" is used to describe a filter on a browsing Table control.
The filter has the following characteristics:
  • "Starts with" filter. The condition is directly entered in the editor.
  • The filter is only applied to browsing Table controls.
  • Filter not affecting the browse of data file (HReadFirst, ...).

"Use HFilter to browse the file" option unchecked

If the option "Use HFilter to browse the file" is unchecked, the filter has the following characteristics:
  • "Starts with" filter. The condition is directly entered in the editor.
  • The filter is only applied to browsing Table controls.
  • The filter does not affect the data file browsing (HReadFirst, etc.)
  • Only the column associated with the search item can be sorted ("Sortable" option in the "General" tab).
  • No search can be performed by the user in the Table control ("Searchable" option in the "General" tab).

"Use HFilter to browse the file" option checked

If the option "Use HFilter to browse the file" is checked, the filter has the following characteristics:
  • "Starts with" filter. The condition is directly entered in the editor.
  • The filter is only applied to browsing Table controls.
  • The filter does not affect the data file browsing (HReadFirst, etc.)
  • The user will be able to sort the information displayed in the columns associated with key items ("Sortable" option in the "General" tab).
  • The user will be able to perform searches in the columns associated with key items ("Searchable" option in the "General" tab).
Special case: Before opening the window that contains the Table control, a filter was set on the base file of the control via HFilter. The Table control automatically filters the records displayed (filter directly entered in the editor or with the ..Filter property). When the closing window, no filter will be enabled on the data file.
Caution: Check which filter is active when browsing the files. As two filters cannot be enabled at the same time, only the last filter created by HFilter is kept.
..Filter property
..Filter is used to dynamically configure the characteristics of the filter applied to the Table control .
HFilter
HFilter is used to filter the base file of the Table control. HFilter allows you to use all types of filters (including the "Starts with" filters).
If HFilter is not used in the initialization code of the Table control, it is necessary to redisplay the contents of the Table control using TableDisplay.
Remark: When a browsing Table control is automatically filled (by WINDEV, WEBDEV or WINDEV Mobile), the Table control is not filled when running the initialization code. The records can be filtered by HFilter.
