Characteristics of Table controls

Overview
The Table control is used to display and/or enter information. This information can come from a data source, from a WLanguage variable, or it can be stored.

The display mode and the operations that can be performed by the user depend on:

  • the initial status of the Table control.
  • the selection mode of the Table control.
The content of the Table control is used to define the source of the data displayed in the control.

Special case: Table control in Ajax mode

If "Ajax mode" is checked in the description window of the Table control ("General" tab), the Table control displayed in the page will look like a Windows Table control:

  • the height of the rows can be adapted to the content ("Height of rows automatically adapted to the content" option in the "General" tab).

Content of the Table control
A Table control can be a browsing Table, a Table on source or a memory Table:
  • A browsing Table control is used to display data coming from a specific data source (data file, query, ...).
  • A Table control on source is used to display data coming from a variable.
  • A memory Table control is used to display data defined by programming.
The content of the control is defined when creating the control and it can be modified in the description of the Table control ("Content" tab).

This screen is used to specify whether the control is a browsing Table, a memory Table ("By programming" option) or a Table on source ("By variable" option).

For a Table control on source, this screen is used to define the source browsed and the stored variable.

For a browsing Table control, this screen is used to define the characteristics of the browse performed on the data source. See Link between a Table control and a data file for more details.
