Binding an Edit control to an item
An Edit control can be bound to an item in a data file, query, etc, ... The type of the bound control may be different depending on the item type. The table below shows the different types of items and the corresponding Edit controls automatically created by the RAD methodology: | | Type of item | Type of control |

Updating the Edit control with the value from the item 1st case: the controls in the window or page are bound to items in a data fileAll the controls bound to an item in the data file (or a related file) will be updated by: 2nd case: the controls in the window or page are not bound to items in a data file A value must be assigned to each control using the following syntax:
<Control name> = <Data file>.<Item>
Updating an item with the data from the Edit control 1st case: the controls in the window or page are bound to items in a data fileAll the items in the data file (or a related file) that are bound to a control in the window or page will be updated by: 2nd case: the controls in the window or page are not bound to items in a data file The value of each control must be assigned to each item using the following syntax:
