Events managed by WINDEV and WINDEV Mobile

WINDEV and WINDEV Mobile manage the following events by default (in order of appearance in the code editor):
EventRuntime condition
InitializationRun when opening the window. (*)

Special case: automatically filled browsing Combo Box:
When this code is run, the Combo Box control is not filled yet. To force the control to be filled in this code, use:
End of initializationCode found only for automatically filled browsing Combo Box controls:
Run once the Combo Box control control has been filled. This code enables you to select an element in the control, or to add or modify an element.
EntryRun when the control takes focus
ExitRun when changing control (TAB key, change of control with the mouse, etc.)
Whenever modifiedCode found for editable Combo Box controls only:
Run when the user enters data in an editable Combo Box control.
Selecting a rowRun when the user selects an element in the row or modifies the selected element.

(*) By default, the "Initializing" event of each control is run according to the order in which the controls were created in the window. To modify this runtime order:
  1. Select "Windows .. Edit the initialization order".On the "Window" pane, in the "Order" group, click "Initialization".
  2. In the window that is displayed, use the arrows on the right to modify the initialization order of controls.

Events managed by WEBDEV

WEBDEV manages the following events by default (in order of appearance in the code editor):

Initialization (Server code)Run when opening the page.

Special case: automatically filled browsing Combo Box control:
When this code is run, the Combo Box control is not filled yet. To force the control to be filled in this code, use:

Run once the control has been filled. This code enables you to select an element in the control, or to add or modify an element.
Entry in control (Browser code)Run when the control takes focus.
Exit without modification (Browser code)Run when changing control (change of control with the mouse, etc.) once the content of the control was modified (element selection for example).
Whenever modified (Server code)Run when the user performs a selection.
Exit from control (Browser code)Run when changing control (change of control with the mouse, ...).

Note: Only the browser codes are available in a static page.
Optional events
Several optional events can be managed.
To manage an optional event, simply select it in the icon bar of the code window.

To add an optional event:
  1. Select the requested control.
  2. Display the code window of this control (F2 key).
  3. Click the link "Add other processes to xxx" at the bottom of the window code, after the last event.Click the link "Add other events to xxx" at the bottom of the window code, after the last event.
  4. All the optional events available for the control are displayed.
  5. Check the optional event to add and validate.
    Note: You can select several optional events.
  6. The selected optional event is automatically added to the events managed by the control.
To disable an optional event, simply perform the same operations to display the list of optional events. Then simply uncheck the optional events to delete.
Note: If the disabled code contains WLanguage code, this code is automatically deleted.
You can manage, for example:
  • the control rollover with the mouse,
  • the left mouse button down, up, with a double click,
  • the right mouse button down, up, with double click,
  • the mouse wheel, etc.

Optional events of a Combo Box control: opening and closing the Combo Box controls

Two optional events are associated with Combo Box controls:
EventRuntime condition
Opening the drop-down listRun when the user displays the content of the Combo Box control.
Used to fill a Combo Box control dynamically when it is opened.
Closing the drop-down listRun when the user closes the drop-down list of the Combo Box control.
Used to position the cursor on another control when validating the Combo Box control.
