Overview
Do you have an active Internet connection on your development computer? You can automatically download the different editor updates (WINDEV, WEBDEV and WINDEV Mobile) thanks to "Automatic update".
This mechanism studies your computer to find the PC SOFT products to upgrade and provides a list of available upgrades according to your configuration. This allows you to always use the most recent version of the PC SOFT products.
No personal information is sent to the server.
This mechanism is optional, it can be disabled at any time. You still have the ability to visit the PC SOFT Web site and to manually download the upgrades available for your PC SOFT products.
Principle

Finding updates

The search for updates can be run manually or automatically whenever a PC SOFT product is started. This search is performed by WDAutomaticUpdate.
WDAutomaticUpdate performs the following actions:
  • Connect to the PC SOFT Web site to retrieve the characteristics of the available updates (connection by FTP). No information regarding the current computer (serial number, name of the software used or personal details) is sent to the server. Only the IP address of the computer is known by the server.
  • Compare the versions of the PC SOFT products installed on the computer with the versions available on the PC SOFT Web site. Propose to download the upgraded versions (if any).
  • Download and install the upgraded versions of the products.
How to proceed?
The mechanism used to find updates can be run:
  • Automatically when the different PC SOFT products are started (default option). This automatic mechanism can be disabled at any time.
  • Manually, via "? .. Update WINDEV/WEBDEV/WINDEV Mobile" or via "? .. Information on Web .. Check for updates on Internet".Manually: on the "Home" pane, in the "Online help" group, expand "Information on the Web" and select "Check for updates on Internet".

Automatic search for updates

When starting the editor (WINDEV, WEBDEV or WINDEV Mobile), WDAutomaticUpdate checks whether updates are available for the different PC SOFT products. An icon indicating the use of WDAutomaticUpdate is displayed on the left of the clock in the Windows taskbar.
If an update is available, a window is automatically displayed.
Click this window to start the wizard for selecting the updates.
Note: WDAutomaticUpdate cannot be configured while running the automatic search for updates.

Manual search for updates

To manually find updates for PC SOFT products, select "?.. Information on the Web .. Check for updates on Internet".To manually find updates for PC SOFT products, on the "Home" pane, in the "Online help" group, expand "Information on the Web" and select "Check for updates on Internet".
The wizard starts and proposes to download the available updates.
The first wizard screen is used to access the configuration of WDAutomaticUpdate ("Options" link). This screen is also used to enable (or not) the automatic search for updates when the product is opened. If the automatic search for updates is enabled, it is performed every 7 days once the product is opened.
