Overview
When entering a password, the characters entered are hidden by a bullet.
A new method consists in displaying these characters "in clear" on the screen (providing that nobody is spying on you...).
From version 18, the user can click a viewing icon displayed beside the control: the password will be visible during the click duration. This allows the user to check the password typed.
A specific icon

Implementation

The icon for viewing the passwords is automatically implemented from version 18.
The display of this icon can be configured (like all the options proposed by the AAFs). See Configuring the AAF menus for more details.
In programming, DisableAAF associated with the aafDisplayPassword constant prevents from displaying the password of the specified edit control. In programming, AAFDisable (or DisableAAF) associated with the aafDisplayPassword constant prevents from displaying the password of the specified edit control.
Caution: When a "Password" edit control is assigned by programming (assignment by the "=" operator or by FileToScreen for example), the viewing icon is not displayed for security reasons.
Tip: To fix this problem, all you have to do is assign the content via SendKey:
// Assigns a password via SendKey
SendKey(GeneratePassword(18), Handle(EDT_Password))
