Advanced borders (WEBDEV, version 15)
Warning
From version 16, the "Border,Bckgrd" tab is no longer available. This tab was included in the "Style" tab of the different WeDev controls.

This help page is kept for backward compatibility with the earlier versions.
Overview
The "Border, Bckgrd" tab found in the window for control properties allows you to modify all the properties regarding the border and the background onto which the control will be drawn.
Note: This tab does not apply to the following controls:
  • HTML control (not to be confused with HTML Static controls)
  • Flash control
  • Flex control
  • Silverlight control
  • Java Applet control
  • Peeling Corner control
  • Horizontal Rule control
Simple edit options
The simple edit options can be accessed in the description window of the control and they have the following aspect:

Editing the border and the background of a control

  1. The three drop-down lists are used to choose a border color, a background color and a border style among the preset values.
  2. The interactive preview shows the result of the selection.
  3. An advanced button is used to access the advanced options for configuring the border and the background.
Advanced options for configuring the border and the background
The advanced options are used to configure the border and the background in two different tabs.

Border options

The tab for configuring the border has the following aspect:

Editing the advanced options of the control border

  1. The interactive preview shows the result of the selection.
  2. The control border can be a simple border or it can be based on an extensible image:
    • A simple border will be made of a simple line (whose characteristics can change).
    • A border based on an image can have different visual aspects.
  3. The parameters for each section of a simple border can be configured independently.
  4. An image border is defined by its shape and thickness.
  5. The colors of the image can be chosen via these two drop-down lists and possibly reversed.

Background options

The tab for configuring the background has the following aspect:

Editing the advanced options of the control border

  1. The interactive preview shows the result of the selection.
  2. The type of fill (plain or gradient) is specified via a drop-down list as well as the colors required to implement it.
  3. An image can also be selected. In this case, it will be placed in the center of the border and the selected type of fill will be used up to the outline as follows:

    Preview with a background image

  4. The parameters for positioning and repeating the image can be modified.
  5. The extensibility limits of the background gradients can be defined in these two edit controls. These parameters are used if the control is located in an extensible are of the page. When it is the case, the gradient is always calculated on the initial size of the control and its last line is repeated until the maximum height is reached (and/or the last column until the maximum width according to the gradient direction).
Example for using the extensibility limits
The initial height of a control is set to 200 pixels. This control is duplicated twice and the copies are placed in an area that is extensible at 100%. The copy on the left has a maximum extensible height of 1000 pixels while the copy on the right remains set to 200 pixels. The result during the display in a browser is as follows:
