Overview
The concept of external component makes all the development teams happy. The ability to re-use a secure code is very beneficial.
You have the ability to automatically take into account the differences that can exist between the different targets: Windows .Net, Internet-Intranet, mobile applications, ...
Your external components can contain windows or pages and they can be used in a WINDEV, WEBDEV and WINDEV Mobile project.
The possible differences found in the code or in the GUI are automatically taken into account.
When it is used, the external component will adapt to the target.
How to proceed?
You have the ability to develop projects common to the different products: WINDEV, WEBDEV and WINDEV Mobile. These projects can contain WINDEV windows, WINDEV Mobile windows and/or WEBDEV pages.
From a common project, creating a multi-product external component is child's play:
  1. Create the different elements of your component (window, pages, ...).
Reminder: The Conditional Target-Code makes the processes usable regardless of the environment, the platform or the type of generation. You also have the ability to use InComponentMode, InJavaMode, InPHPMode, InPocketMode, InWebMode, ...
  2. Select "Workshop .. External component .. Define a new component from this project". If you are not using any specific project configuration, the creation of a project configuration of external component type is proposed. Accept. On the "Project" pane, in the "Project configuration" group, expand "New configuration" and select "External component (.WDK)".
  3. In the wizard for configuration creation:
    • Select "Component". The wizard allows you to specify the products for which the component must be created: WINDEV, WINDEV Mobile, WEBDEV.
    • Select the elements that will be included in the project configuration. You can include all the elements required by your component (windows, pages, procedures, ...).
    • Select (if necessary) the internal components to include.
In the wizard for configuration creation:
    • In the "Compatibility of the configuration" step, specify:
      • Whether the component must only be used by an application developed with the current product (a WINDEV component that can only be used by a WINDEV application for example).
      • Whether the component can be used by all the products (a WINDEV component that can be used by a WINDEV, WINDEV Mobile or WEBDEV application).
      • The platforms for which the compilation errors must be enabled.
    • Select the elements that will be included in the project configuration. You can include all the elements required by your component (windows, pages, procedures, ...).
    • Select (if necessary) the internal components to include.
  4. The wizard for creating the external component starts. Specify the elements required by your component. See Creating a component for more details.
