Maintaining the files of Control Centers
Overview
When using a database, you may have to perform maintenance operations on the data files. These operations are used to optimize the access time to data or to free the locked transactions for example.
When should these options be used?
When a technical problem occurs (power outage, ...), when starting the Control Centers, a message can propose to cancel the locked transactions or to perform a re-index operation.
Note: If the database of the Control Centers is quite important, a re-index operation should be performed on a regular basis.
Caution: These operations are locking operations: the data found in the Control Center cannot be accessed during the operation.
How to proceed?
To start the maintenance of the files found in the Control Centers:
  1. Select:
    • in the Project Monitoring Center: "Maintenance .. Maintain the database of Control Centers".in the Project Monitoring Center: expand Menu of Project Monitoring Center and select "Maintenance".
    • in WINDEV, WEBDEV or WINDEV Mobile: "Tools .. Maintain the database of Control Centers".in WINDEV, WEBDEV or WINDEV Mobile: on the "Tools" pane, in the "Control Centers" group, click "Database maintenance".
  2. In the window that is displayed, specify:
    • the relevant database.
    • the operation to perform:
      • Re-indexing: recommended for a large database
      • Canceling the locked transactions: recommended if a message indicates that transactions are locked when starting a Control Center.
      • Migrating the database to the most recent format: recommended to benefit from the new features of the current version. For example, in version 14, this option is used to manage:
        • additional items for the lists of requirements. See Creating requirements for more details.
        • a data file with images of customer feedback exceeding 2 GB.
Minimum required version
  • Version 12
