Overview
The Project Monitoring Center is used to define:
  • the standard tasks. See Managing tasks for more details.
  • recurring tasks (also called periodic tasks).
A recurring task corresponds to a task that is performed several times at regular time intervals. For example, running automatic tests every Friday at 6:00 PM, monitoring a project every first Monday of the month, ...
Managing recurring tasks

Adding a new recurring task

The recurring tasks can be added by an administrator or by the contributor himself.
To add a recurring task:
  1. Display the "Recurring tasks" tab.
  2. Click the Adding a task button (or select "Add a periodic task" from the popup menu).
  3. Specify the characteristics of the recurring task:
    Editing a recurring task
    The main sections are as follows:
    • Title of the task: this title gives a summary of the task to perform. This title is displayed in the schedule and in the list of recurring tasks.
    • Project: Name of project associated with the task.
    • Report: Status of task. A task can be enabled or disabled. A task can be disabled during a specific period of time. This status can be modified by the contributor. The disabled tasks will not be displayed in the schedule.
    • Contributor: Contributor associated with the task.
    • Start time: Start time of task.
    • Estimated time: Estimated task duration.
    • Start automatically: The task will automatically start at the given date and time.
    • Periodicity: Frequency of the task (every day, every Tuesday, every 3 months, ...).
    • Start Date: Date from which the task will be repeated.
    • Repetition: Number of task recurrences.
    • Details: Description of task, or dialog with the administrator or with other contributors. The name and the date can be included in a text ("Insert Name" button).
  4. Validate.
  5. The task is displayed in the list of recurring tasks. The different recurrences of the task are displayed in the schedule.

Modifying a recurring task

The recurring task can be modified:
  • via the list of recurring tasks ("Recurring tasks" tab): either double-click the requested task, or select the requested task and click Modifying a task . You also have the ability to select the task and select "Modify the recurring task" from the popup menu.
  • via the schedule: all you have to do is double-click the task.

Disabling a recurring task

To disable a recurring task:
  1. Display the list of recurring tasks ("Recurring tasks" tab).
  2. Select the task to disable.
  3. Click the Modifying a task button.
  4. Select "Status: Inactive". The task appears as an inactive task. The different recurrences of the task are no longer displayed in the schedule.

Deleting a recurring task

To delete a recurring task:
  1. Display the list of recurring tasks ("Recurring tasks" tab).
  2. Select the task to delete.
  3. Click the Deleting a task button.
Note: Only the unsaved tasks can be deleted.
Reminder window

Before the recurring tasks

To prevent from forgetting your recurring tasks, a dialog box is regularly displayed before your task. This dialog box automatically disappears after 20 seconds.
From this window, you can:
  • Enable the recurring task. In this case, you have the ability to specify the action performed on the current task: Lock the current task, End the current task, Cancel the current task.
  • Cancel the task.
Reminder
For example:
  • the recurring task A is scheduled at 6:00 PM. A dialog box will remind you of this task at 5:00 PM and at 6:00 PM.
  • the recurring task B is scheduled at 11:15 AM. A dialog box will remind you of this task at 10:00 AM, at 11:00 AM and at 11:15 AM.

After the recurring tasks

If a recurring task was not started after its start time, a dialog box informs you of the delay.
For example, a dialog box is automatically displayed at 3:00 PM if the recurring task C scheduled at 2:00 PM was not started.
