Overview

WDCompte

WDCompte is a Windows application used to:
The WEBDEV accounts are required to install a dynamic site on a Web server.
WDCompte is an application run by the server administrator, on a Web server. This application automatically manages the accounts on the current server.
WEBDEV account

What is a WEBDEV account?

A WEBDEV account allows the server administrator to:
  • group the dynamic sites that belong to a site manager. These dynamic sites are installed on a single Web server.
  • configure the maximum number of connections allowed for all the dynamic sites of the site manager.
  • configure the setup directories of the dynamic sites on the Web server.
  • configure the directory for file transfer (for the remote setups and updates of dynamic WEBDEV 23 sites by FTP).
This WEBDEV account allows the site manager to:
  • use the remote WEBDEV administrator to manage his dynamic WEBDEV sites installed on the server.
  • perform remote setups and updates of dynamic sites (by FTP).
Note: A specific account (login = "ADMIN") allows the server administrator to use the remote WEBDEV administrator. In this case, the server administrator can configure and control all the dynamic WEBDEV sites installed on the Web server. The remote WEBDEV administrator can no longer be used if this account is deleted. To re-create this account, create an account whose login is "ADMIN" (case sensitive).
Caution: When a WEBDEV account is created, its characteristics must be sent to the site manager.
The site manager will be able to perform remote setup and update of his dynamic sites (via FTP) and/or to use the remote WEBDEV Deployment administrator to configure his dynamic sites.

When should I use WDCompte?

The server administrator must use WDCompte to create an account (or to migrate an existing account). The creation of this WEBDEV account can be performed in several cases:
  • The site manager wants to perform remote setups and/or updates of his site (by FTP).
  • The site manager has already installed his site via physical media, and he wants to perform remote updates (by FTP) or use the remote WEBDEV administrator.
