WinActivateDDW (Function)

Enables or disables the DDW (Dim Disabled Window) feature:
  • for a specific window.
  • for all the application windows. In this case, the windows specifically configured by WinActivateDDW will be ignored.
The DDW feature is used to automatically gray the inactive windows. See Dim the disabled windows for more details.

<Result>: Boolean
Previous activation status of DDW:
  • True: the DDW feature was enabled for the specified window.
  • False: the DDW feature was not enabled for the specified window.
<Window Name>: Character string (with or without quotes)
Name or alias of window to use. This window must be opened.
<Activation of DDW>: Boolean
New activation status of DDW:
  • True: the DDW feature is enabled for the specified window.
  • False: the DDW feature is not enabled for the specified window.

Remarks

Configuration of the end-user computers

Depending on the configuration of the end-user computers, the DDW feature may have no effect.
Indeed, the DDW feature is affected by the characteristics of the video card, the speed of the processor, ...
If a problem occurs, ask the end users to update the driver of their video card.
Note: To operate, the end-user computers must:
  • have a display mode greater than 256 colors.
  • be in 32-bit or 64-bit mode.
  • be running Windows 2000 or later.
  • use the maximum level of "Hardware acceleration" for the video card (advanced display properties of the computer).

Rate of gray

The default rate of gray for the windows is set to 18 %. To modify this rate, use WinRateDDW.
