Creates a hot link with a data.
Creating a "hot" link with a data means that the program will receive the new value of the linked data from the server (connected program) whenever the linked data is modified. Therefore, you must branch to a procedure in response to the DDE event used to modify a linked data (DDEEvent with the DDEtoModify event).
Example
MyConnection = DDEConnect("Excel", "Worksheet1")
DDEEvent("ModifProc", DDEtoModify)
DDELink(MyConnection, "L1C1", 1)
Syntax
<Result> = DDELink(<Connection Identifier> , <Object> [, <Time-out>])
<Result>: Boolean
  • True if the link was created,
  • False if an error occurred (DDEError returns the error details).
<Connection Identifier>: Integer
Connection identifier, returned by DDEConnect.
<Object>: Character string
Object of connection.
<Time-out>: Optional integer or optional Duration
Maximum wait duration (in seconds). If the command was not run:
  • If <Time-out> is specified, there is a delay of <Time-out> seconds before exiting from DDELink.
  • If <Time-out> is not specified, there is an endless wait.
Note: This parameter can correspond to:
  • an integer corresponding to the number of seconds,
  • a Duration variable,
  • Versions 23 and later
the duration in clear ('1s' for example).
    New in version 23
the duration in clear ('1s' for example).
the duration in clear ('1s' for example).
Remarks
A DDE link must not be enabled during a print: it must be disabled by DDEUnLink.
