DDEExecute (Function)

Sends a command that will be run on the server.
Example
MyConnection = DDEConnect("Excel", "System")
DDEExecute(MyConnection, "[Error(False)]")
// End Excel
DDEExecute(MyConnection, "[EXIT()]")
DDEDisconnect(MyConnection)
Syntax
<Result> = DDEExecute(<Connection Identifier> , <Command to Run> [, <Time-out>])
<Result>: Boolean
  • True if the command was run,
  • False if an error occurred (DDEError returns the error details).
<Connection Identifier>: Integer
Connection identifier, returned by DDEConnect.
<Command to Run>: Character string
Command that must be run on the DDE server.
<Time-out>: Optional integer or optional Duration
Maximum wait duration (in seconds). If the command was not run:
  • If <Time-out> is specified, there is a delay of <Time-out> seconds before exiting from DDEExecute.
  • If <Time-out> is not specified, there is an endless wait.
Note: This parameter can correspond to:
  • an integer corresponding to the number of seconds,
  • a Duration variable,
  • Versions 23 and later
