DDESend (Function)

Sends a data to the program connected via DDE.
Example

Syntax
<Result> = DDESend(<Connection Identifier> , <Object for Sending> , <Data> [, <Time-out>])
<Result>: Boolean
  • True if the sending was performed,
  • False if an error occurred (DDEError returns the error details).
<Connection Identifier>: Integer
Connection identifier, returned by DDEConnect.
<Object for Sending>: Character string
Object for sending to the program.
<Data>: Character string
Data that must be sent to the connected program.
<Time-out>: Optional integer or optional Duration
Maximum wait duration (in seconds). If the command was not run:
  • If <Time-out> is specified, there is a delay of <Time-out> seconds before exiting from DDESend.
  • If <Time-out> is not specified, there is an endless wait.
Note: This parameter can correspond to:
  • an integer corresponding to the number of seconds,
  • a Duration variable,
  • Versions 23 and later

Remarks

Limit

The maximum size of all the parameters used by DDESend cannot exceed 1000 characters.
WINDEVExternal language

External languages

In the interface of WINDEV with the external languages, "Send"is equivalent to DDESend. All the parameters must be specified. The syntax is as follows:
  • in C: CALLDDE("Send,Recipient,Subject,Info")
  • in Windows Turbo Pascal: CALLDDE("Send,Recipient,Subject,Info")
  • in Windows Visual Basic: call CALLDDE("Send,Recipient,Subject,Info")
A maximum number of characters is allowed for each parameter:
  • Recipient: 8 characters
  • Subject: 30 characters
  • Info: 100 characters
