Operations performed on an object diagram
How to proceed?

Creating an object diagram

To create an object diagram:
  1. Select "File .. New .. Architecture .. UML". The wizard for creating a UML model starts.Click among the quick access buttons.
    • In the wheel that is displayed, hover "Architecture" and click "UML". The window for creating a new element is displayed: click "Architecture" then "UML".
    • The wizard for creating a UML model starts.
  2. Select "Object diagram".
  3. Specify the UML model into which the diagram will be inserted.
  4. Choose to edit the diagram directly.
  5. Validate the creation of the object diagram. The created model becomes the current model.

Creating an object

To create an object:
  1. Select "Insert .. Object". The wizard for object creation starts.On the "Object diagram" pane, in the "Creation" group, click "Object". The wizard for object creation starts.
  2. Specify:
    • the name of the object. This name is displayed in the UML editor.
    • the name of the class. This name is displayed in the UML editor.
    • the caption of the class describing the purpose of the class. This caption will be used in the program documentation of the UML editor.
  3. Define the attributes of the class.
  4. Validate the description of the object.

Adding an attribute

To add an attribute:
  1. Select the object into which the attribute must be added.
  2. Click . The wizard for attribute creation starts.On the "Object diagram" pane, in the "Creation" group, click "Attribute". The wizard for creating an attribute starts.
  3. Define the attributes of the class.
  4. Validate the description of the attribute. The attribute is automatically added to the current object.
Note: The characteristics of an attribute can be modified in the specifications of the object ("Description" from the popup menu of the object).

Creating a composite object

To create a composite object:
  1. Select "Insert .. Composite object". A new composite object appears in the UML model.On the "Object diagram" pane, in the "Creation" group, click "Composite object". A new composite object appears in the UML model.
  2. Select "Description" from the popup menu (right mouse click) of the new composite object. The window for specifying the object is displayed.
  3. Specify:
    • the name of the composite object. This name is displayed in the UML editor.
    • the class of the composite object.
    • the caption of the composite object describing the purpose of the composite object. This caption will be used in the program documentation of the UML editor.
  4. Validate the description of the composite object.

Creating a link

To create a link:
  1. Select "Insert .. Link".On the "Object diagram" pane, in the "Creation" group, click "Link".
  2. Select the different objects to link.
  3. Select "Description" from the popup menu (right mouse click) of the new link. The window for specifying the link is displayed.
  4. Specify:
    • the type of link.
    • the name of the link. This name is displayed in the UML editor.
  5. Validate the description of the link.

Creating a package

To create a package:
  1. Select "Insert .. Package". A new package appears in the UML model.On the "Object diagram" pane, in the "Creation" group, click "Package". A new package appears in the UML model.
  2. Select "Description" from the popup menu (right mouse click) of the new package. The window for specifying the package is displayed.
  3. Specify:
    • the name of the package. This name is displayed in the package in the UML editor.
    • the caption of the package describing the purpose of the package.
    • the relations of the package.
  4. Validate the description of the package.
