Overview
The project editor allows you to graphically view the project elements (window, reports, queries, ...) as well as their sequence.
Displaying the graph
Two modes are available for viewing a project in WINDEV, WEBDEV and WINDEV Mobile:
  • the project graph that is used to view the different project elements in details.
  • the dashboard that proposes a global view of the project elements as well as several indicators for the quality of the project. This display mode is proposed by default. See Dashboard for more details.

Displaying the project graph or the dashboard

To display the dashboard of your project, all you have to do is select "Project .. Project dashboard" ( ).
To display the project graph, all you have to do is select "Project .. Project graph" ( ).
To display the dashboard of your project, on the "Project" pane, in the "Project" group, click .
To display the project graph, on the "Project" pane, in the "Project" group, click .
Sequence between two elements
The project editor allows you to easily view and create the incoming and outgoing links for a project element (window, page or report).
Incoming links coming from the windows or the pages in which the central element can be opened.
Outgoing links toward the elements (windows, pages or reports) that can be opened from the central element.

Creating a link between two elements

To create a link between two elements (a window opening a report for example):
  1. Select "Insert .. New link" or click . The mouse cursor turns into a pen.On the "Display" pane, in the "Graph" group, expand "New" and select "New link". The mouse cursor turns into a pen.
  2. Click the calling element (the window) then the element called (the report). The wizard for link creation is displayed.
  3. In the wizard for link creation:
    • Select the opening mode (Open, MDIOpen, ...).
    • Select the name and caption of the button.
  4. The link is automatically created. The calling window is displayed. Modify (if necessary) the position of the created button.

Reference element

If the same reference element is linked to several other elements (incoming links), this element is displayed as many times as necessary in the graph. This element is called "Reference element".
To browse the reference elements of an object:
  1. Select one of the reference elements.
  2. To go to the next element:
    • select "Display .. Next reference/Previous reference".
    • click .
Rebuilding the graph
Rebuilding the graph is used to update the graph of the project according to the modifications made to your project (add or delete an element) or to the project elements (add or delete code used to open a report or a window).
The project graph is automatically refreshed. However, you can "force" the redisplay of the graph via "Display .. Rebuild the project graph" ( ).The project graph is automatically refreshed. To force the graph to be redisplayed, on the "Display" pane, in the "Graph" group, click "Rebuild the graph".
Note: Two types of reconstruction are proposed:
  • Full rebuild: the project graph is entirely rebuilt.
  • Partial rebuild: the project graph is completed.
