Overview
One of the main steps when creating a setup is the selection of the files to install.
By default, the setup program automatically selects all the files found in the EXE sub-directory of your project excluding the data files (".FIC", ".NDX", ".MMO"). The selected files will be installed on the Pocket PC of the users.
To add files to install, click the "Add" button and select the files to add.
To delete files from the setup, select the file and click the "Remove" button.
To configure the setup properties of each file, select the file and click the "Properties" button. You can for example create a shortcut with a command line for one or more files, manage the automatic data modification, ... See "Properties of the files to install" for more details.
You also have the ability to specify the management mode of the WINDEV Mobile framework. You can:
  • Include the WINDEV framework in the setup. The generated setup is stand-alone and it contains all the necessary elements.
  • Install no framework. This option is recommended if the framework is already installed on the mobile devices.
Properties of files to install

"Path" tab

This tab is used to specify:
  • the setup directory of the file. The following shortcuts can be used:
    • <SetupDir>: setup directory chosen by the user during the setup.
    • <WinDir>: Windows directory of user computers
  • the name of the file installed. By default, the file has the same name. However, a different name can be given to the file during the setup.

"Shortcut" tab

This tab is used to create for the selected file:
  • a shortcut in the "Programs" menu
  • and/or a shortcut in a group of programs.
To create a shortcut:
  1. Select the type of shortcut to create.
  2. Enter the caption of the shortcut in each language supported by the setup program.
  3. Enter the group of programs where the shortcut must be created.
This group of programs will be created if it does not exist on the user computer.
Note: By default, for each executable installed, a shortcut will be created:
  • in the "Programs" menu of the setup computer.
  • in a group of programs

"Version" tab

The "Version" tab is used to find out the date, the time and the version of the file installed.

"HyperFileSQL" tab (for the executables and the data files only)

This tab is used to specify whether the automatic data modification is managed. The "Advanced" button is used to configure the options of the automatic modification (modification of the password during the automatic modification for example). See Configuring the automatic modification of data files for more details.

"Pocket PC" tab (for the executables only)

This tab is used to associate an executable with one or more events that occur on the Pocket PC.
Therefore, the executable can be run:
  • when switching the Pocket PC on ("On/Off" button of the Pocket PC),
  • when rebooting the Pocket PC,
  • when connecting the Pocket PC to the PC (before running ActiveSync),
  • once the Pocket PC and the PC have been synchronized (after the synchronization performed by ActiveSync).
Note: In this version, the setup program can only activate an event. To disable an event (during an update for example), use AutoRunDelete.

"Framework" tab

This tab is used to find out the setup options of the WINDEV Mobile framework. To modify these options, you must regenerate the executable while modifying the load options of the framework.
The available options are:
  • Don't install the framework: The framework is not installed with the application.
  • Use the common framework. In this case, the framework is installed once on the mobile device, regardless the number of WINDEV Mobile applications used on the mobile device.
  • Use the common renamed framework. In this case, the framework is installed once on the mobile device, regardless the number of WINDEV Mobile applications used on the mobile device. The framework DLLs are renamed.
  • Use the framework specific to the executable. In this case, the framework is installed on the mobile device with the application.
  • Use the framework specific to the executable (renamed DLLs). In this case, the framework is installed on the mobile device with the application. The framework DLLs are renamed.
Installing the framework
The WINDEV Mobile framework corresponds to all the WINDEV Mobile libraries (".DLL" files).
WINDEV Mobile proposes 2 methods for installing the framework with the application:
  1. Include the WINDEV framework in the setup. In this case, the WINDEV Mobile framework is installed in the "Windows\PC SOFT\WD23.0" directory. This framework is installed once only. This framework is used by all the WINDEV Mobile applications installed on this computer.
  2. "Don't install the framework" is used to avoid installing the Framework twice on the Pocket PCs on which the proper Framework is already installed.
Note: on a PSION (GOTIVE), the framework is installed in the \23.0 directory by default. This has no effect on the operating mode of the application because the applications do easily find the framework.
