Overview
The access to the HFSQL Client/Server databases is automatic from the WINDEV Mobile applications. The data is compatible, the programming is identical and the accesses are automatically performed, on the database directly.
Using an RPC server can be a solution for accessing the external databases. The purpose of this RPC sever is to perform the link between the database of the server and the mobile device.
RPC server
WINDEV allows you to prepare the setup of an RPC server that can be used with a WINDEV Mobile application. This stand-alone setup will contain:
  • the RPC server
  • the analysis of the current application in the editor
  • the parameters for connecting to the server and the location of the data files
  • the native accesses to the external databases (if necessary).
Note: From version 19, HFSQL is the new name of HyperFileSQL.
Creating the setup of an RPC server
To create the setup of a RPC server from WINDEV:
  1. Select "Workshop .. RPC server .. Create the setup procedure of the RPC server". The wizard starts. Go to the next plane.
Note: To access this option, use:
    • The Ribbon icons icons
    • The main menu accessible via the logo of the product version:
      Main menu
  2. Specify:
    • whether the RPC server must be installed as service.
    • the listening ports of the server. An encrypted connection can be used. The encryption key will have to be specified in NetConnect.
  3. Go to the next step.
  4. Specify the authorized user and their passwords. This information will be stored in the .INI file found in the setup directory of the RPC server. Go to the next step.
  5. Configure the access to the data files of the analysis. Go to the next step.
  6. Specify the Native Accesses that will be installed with the RPC server. The selected native accesses must be installed on the current computer. Go to the next step.
Note: If you choose the OLE DB access, you also have the ability to install MDAC/DCOM.
  7. For a HFSQL analysis, you also have the ability to perform an automatic modification of data files. Go to the next step.
  8. Specify the default setup directory of the RPC server. Go to the next plane.
  9. Specify (if necessary) the license included in the setup program. A different license can be used for each language associated with the current project. Go to the next step.
  10. Specify (if necessary) the "Readme" file associated with the setup program. A different file can be used for each language associated with the current project. Go to the next step.
  11. Select the setup media. A self-extracting executable is proposed by default.
  12. Validate. The setup is generated.
