Overview
As soon as an image can be used (in a control, a window, a report, ...), the "Catalog" button is displayed in the description window of the element. This button is used to select an image:
  • among the images supplied in the "Product" image catalog of WINDEV, WEBDEV, WINDEV Mobile.
  • Versions 20 and later
    among the images available in the "Fotolia" image bank.

This image catalog is used to group:
  • Clipart: images with 1 or more states that can be used for images, buttons, ...
  • Splash Screen, advanced Splash Screen,
  • Shapes,
  • GIF animations,
  • Banner, Backgrounds of windows,
  • Powered by,
  • Border,
  • Bullets, Graphic buttons,
  • Personal images,
  • Images used to customize the style of the different controls (tabs, table columns, ...)
Note: You also have the ability to access the image catalog directly:
  • from the code editor. Indeed, when typing functions that handle images, the "<Image catalog>" option is automatically proposed by the assisted input.
  • via the "Image catalog" pane.
How to use the images found in the image catalog

Performing a search in the image catalog

To perform a search in the image catalog:
  1. Enter the parameters of the search:
    • keyword: The keyword is used to perform a search among the cliparts. The keyword is searched among the keywords associated with the cliparts. The name of the sought file can also be entered directly.
    • theme: The choice of a theme allows you to view all the graphic elements that use the same graphic style. The available themes for the cliparts are as follows: Simple XP, Simple, Classic, Active Vista.
    • dimensions: Choosing a dimension allows you to view all the images corresponding to a given dimension (32x32 for example).
    • image type: Clipart, Splash screen, ...
  2. Click the "Find" button to start the search ( ). The images corresponding to the selected criteria are displayed.
To perform a search in the "Product" image catalog:
  1. Click the "Product" tab if necessary.
  2. Enter the parameters of the search:
    • keyword: The keyword is used to perform a search among the cliparts. The keyword is searched among the keywords associated with the cliparts. The name of the sought file can also be entered directly.
    • theme: The choice of a theme allows you to view all the graphic elements that use the same graphic style. Several themes are available.

  1. Click the "Fotolia" tab if necessary.
  2. Enter the parameters of the search:
    • Category
    • Concepts
    • Age
    • Type: Photo, illustration, ...
    • Presence of human beings or not
    • Orientation of the image
    • Keyword
  3. Start the search via the button . The images corresponding to the selected criteria are displayed.

Associating an image found in the catalog with the current element

To associate an image found in the catalog with the current element:
  1. Click the "Catalog" button in the description window of the current element.
    Note: The images proposed by the image catalog are adapted to the current control. For example, if the image catalog is displayed from the description of a button border, only the images of button borders will be proposed by default.
  2. Search for the requested image if necessary.
  3. Select the image.
  4. Double-click this image.

    If the search is performed on Fotolia, the window for managing the Fotolia images is displayed. You can:
    • use the model image: in this case, the image will be displayed with the Fotolia logo.
    • purchase the image: in this case, you must specify the options of the Fotolia account to use. The image can be saved in the personal images of the image catalog (to be re-used later).

    If the search is performed on Fotolia, the window for managing the Fotolia images is displayed. You can:
    • use the model image: in this case, the image will be displayed with the Fotolia logo.
    • purchase the image: in this case, you must specify the options of the Fotolia account to use. The image can be saved in the personal images of the image catalog (to be re-used later).

    • The format to generate: bmp, gif, jpg, png, svg, ico, ...

    • The number of image states (for the cliparts).
    • The characteristics of the generated image:
      • colors,
      • rotation,
      • symmetry,
      • background color and transparency level of background color,

        opacity of the image: the pixels with a value less than the defined level will be completely transparent.

    • The size of the image.
    • Whether you want to generate an animation (only if the current element corresponds to the background image of a button).
    • Whether you want to store the parameters for the next image selected from the catalog.
  8. Validate. The image is automatically copied into the project directory and associated with the current element.

Displaying the personal images

To display the personal images:
  1. Click the "Custom images" button.
  2. To add an image, click the "Add" button.
  3. In the "Image" tab, select the requested image file. Specify the name of the image and its description.
  4. In the "Keywords" tab, specify the keywords linked to the image. These keywords can be chosen among the existing keywords or they can be created.
  5. Validate. Your image is automatically added to the personal images. It will be taken into account by the next searches.
Notes:
  • You also have the ability to modify the characteristics of a personal image or to delete a personal image.
  • The personal images are referenced in the database of Control Centers. These images will be kept when changing computer or when changing the version of WINDEV, WEBDEV or WINDEV Mobile. See Database of Control Centers for more details.

Images found in the catalog

Format of images

The images found in the catalog are available in different formats: GIF, BMP, PNG, ...
WINDEV Mobile Only the images in GIF, BMP, JPEG and ICO format are available.
Caution: The images in PNG format (24 bits) require a proper configuration of the end-user computer (slower display).

The graphic buttons

By selecting the graphic buttons, the image catalog presents all the available graphic buttons. These buttons are classified by color. Several shapes are proposed for each color.

The bullets

By selecting the bullets, the image catalog presents a range of bullets that can be used in your applications.
