Overview
The description of an internal component can be displayed at any time. This window groups all the options regarding the internal component.
To display the description of internal component:
  1. Select the internal component (in the project graph or in the "Project explorer" pane).
  2. Select "Description" from the popup menu.
Details
The different tabs of description window are as follows:
  • "Description" tab: This tab is used to find out the name of the internal component, its caption and its description (that can be modified directly).
  • "Elements" tab: This tab lists the elements of the internal component. You can:
    • add elements into the internal component ("Add elements" button). All you have to do is select the requested element in the list of project elements.
    • delete elements from the internal component. All you have to do is select the element to delete and click "Delete elements". The element can be deleted from the internal component only (the element is still found in the project) or the element can be deleted from the internal component and from the project.
    • switch the public elements into private elements (and conversely). All you have to do is check the elements that must become public.
  • "Analysis" tab: This tab is used to configure the management mode of the data and runtime contexts. Three modes are available to manage data and runtime contexts:
    • Use the project analysis or no analysis (full share): The internal component accesses the data files of the project. The internal component and the project use the same runtime contexts.
This mode corresponds to the default mode if the internal component is using no analysis.
    • Use the project analysis with different runtime context (advanced mode): The internal component accesses the data files of the project. The internal component and the project are using different runtime contexts.
This mode is reserved to specific cases.
    • Use a specific analysis: The internal component accesses its own data files: it is stand-alone. The internal component and the project are using different runtime contexts.
This mode corresponds to the default mode if the component uses an analysis.
In this case, the analysis used by the internal component must be specified as well as its password if necessary. You also have the ability to create a new analysis directly or to import an analysis from the SCM. This analysis will be associated with the internal component.
AndroidJava Note: If the internal component includes an analysis, this analysis will be ignored during the execution.
  • "Live Data" tab: This tab is available if the internal component has a specific analysis. It is used to configure the "Live Data" for the internal component, which means the ability to view the content of data files in the editor directly.
  • "UML" tab: This tab is used to link an UML model to the internal component.
  • "Dependencies" tab: This tab is used to list the dependencies associated with the internal component.
  • Versions 23 and later
"Compilation" tab: This tab is used to define the programming rules to respect by the internal component. See Programming standard errors for more details.
