Warning
From version 21 (51), the "Wizards, Examples and Components" pane is nt available anymore. You now have the ability to use utility or sample components from the "Project" pane: on the "Project" pane, in the "Project" group, expand "Import" and select "An external component .. Utility or sample component".
Overview
The "Wizards, Examples and Components" pane is used to simplify the management of external components. Indeed, the "Wizards, Examples and Components" pane is used to display the available external components and to include them in any project by Drag and Drop.
Reminder: The components included in a project are visible in the pane (like the windows, reports, ...) via the "Component" option.
The "Wizards, Examples and Components" pane is used to view all the available components.
To display information regarding the components:
  1. Display the "Wizards, Examples and Components" pane if necessary ("Display .. Toolbars .. Panes .. Wizards, Examples and Components"). Display the "Wizards, Examples and Components" pane if necessary: on the "Home" pane, in the "Environment" group, expand "Panes" and select "Wizards, Examples and Components".
  2. Click the "Components" button.
What does the "Wizards, Examples and Components" pane contain?
For the components, the "Wizards, Examples and Components" pane contains the following elements:
  • The utility components: These components are supplied with WINDEV, WEBDEV or WINDEV Mobile.
  • The sample components: These components are supplied with the examples of WINDEV, WEBDEV or WINDEV Mobile. These components can be included in your applications.
  • The custom components: The list of custom components corresponds to the components:
    • generated from the current product (WINDEV, WEBDEV or WINDEV Mobile)
    • imported from the current product (WINDEV, WEBDEV or WINDEV Mobile)
    • selected via the <Browse> or <Find> option
The custom components are displayed regardless of the user.
  • <Browse> option: This option is used to find the WDI file of a component in order to add it to the list of custom components.
  • <Find> option: This option is used to find the components found in a directory (and in its sub-directories if necessary). All the new components found are automatically displayed and added to the list of custom components.
  • The categories of components: The components can be grouped by category. The categories of components are displayed in the "Wizards, Examples and Components" pane.
What are the actions that can be performed from the "Wizards, Examples and Components" pane?
For each component displayed in the "Wizards, Examples and Components" pane, you can:
  • View the overview of the component when its name is hovered by the mouse cursor. This overview is displayed in a tooltip.
  • View the full documentation of the component (double click performed on the name or icon of the component or "Description" from the popup menu of the component).
Note: the "General" tab of the component description is used to get general information regarding the component.
  • Import the component (Drag and Drop the component to the project editor or select "Import" from the popup menu of the component).
  • Remove the component from the list (personal component only): allows you to keep the useful components in the "Wizards, Examples and Components" pane.
