Overview
WINDEV To create and use a .NET assembly in WINDEV, you must:
WINDEV Mobile To use a .NET assembly in WINDEV Mobile, you must:
  • install the .NET framework (version 2.0) on the development computer.
  • install the SDK Compact Framework (version 2.0) on the development computer.
  • install the Compact Framework (version 2.0) on the Pocket PC.
    Notes:
    - At the time this documentation is published, the Compact Framework (version 2.0) does not operate in Windows CE 2002 and on the Smartphones 2003.
    - If a Mobile executable that uses .NET assemblies is run on a Pocket where the .NET 2.0 Framework is not installed, the executable does not operate. No error message is displayed.
Note: The most recent framework is used by default when using a .NET assembly.
Installing the .NET framework

Checking whether .NET framework is installed on the current computer

To check whether the .NET framework is installed on the current computer:
  1. Open the control panel of Windows ("Start .. Settings .. Control panel") and select "Add/Remove programs".
  2. Find the ".NET framework" program in the list.

Installing the .NET framework on the current computer

Method 1: Using Windows Update
To install the .NET framework on the current computer:
  1. Open the control panel of Windows ("Start .. Settings .. Control panel") and select "Add/Remove programs".
  2. Click the "Add new programs" button.
  3. Click the "Windows Update" button.
  4. Find the setup of the .NET Framework.
  5. Install the .NET Framework.
Method 2: Downloading from the Internet site of Microsoft
To install the .NET framework on the current computer:
  1. Consult the Microsoft site.
  2. In the "Microsoft Download Center" section, find the setup of the .NET framework.
  3. Install the .NET Framework.
Versions 16 and later
Special case: .NET 4.0 framework
The .NET 4 DLL requires the LibC 10. Therefore, it is not loaded on the computers:
  • that only own the.NET 4 framework
  • on which no other application has installed the LibC 10 yet (Visual 2010 for example).
The distributable version of the LibC 10 can be freely downloaded from the Microsoft site (address valid when this documentation was published: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=a7b7a05e-6de6-4d3a-a423-37bf0912db84&displayLang=fr).
New in version 16
Special case: .NET 4.0 framework
The .NET 4 DLL requires the LibC 10. Therefore, it is not loaded on the computers:
  • that only own the.NET 4 framework
  • on which no other application has installed the LibC 10 yet (Visual 2010 for example).

Defining the .NET security level
WINDEVWindows To define the .NET security level, we advise you to check the Microsoft documentation. The security level must be set to "Full trust".
Making the DLLs required to run the .NET assembly accessible
WINDEVWindows To make the DLLs required to run the .NET assembly accessible:
  1. Copy (if necessary) the "WDxxNET.DLL" library (this library is found in the "\Programs" sub-directory of the setup directory):
    • into the directory of the .NET assembly.
    • into the "Assembly" sub-directory of the setup directory of Windows.
      • For a .NET 1.0 assembly, the DLL to copy is wdxxxnet1.dll.
        Caution: The .NET assemblies 1.0 are no longer supported from version 19.
      • For a.NET 2.0 assembly, the DLL to copy is wdxxxnet2.dll.
      • For a .NET 2.0 assembly in 64 bits, the DLL to copy is wdxxxnet2_64.dll.
      • Versions 16 and later
        For a.NET 4.0 assembly, the DLL to copy is wdxxxnet4.dll.
        New in version 16
        For a.NET 4.0 assembly, the DLL to copy is wdxxxnet4.dll.
        For a.NET 4.0 assembly, the DLL to copy is wdxxxnet4.dll.
  2. Copy (if necessary) the WINDEV libraries:
    • into the directory of the .NET assembly.
    • into the PATH.
Reminder: The PATH lists the directories in which the executables (".EXE" files) and the libraries ("DLL" files) are sought in priority.
Installing the Compact Framework
WINDEV Mobile To install the Compact Framework on the current computer and on the Pocket PC:
  1. Consult the Microsoft site.
  2. In the "Download" section, find the setup of Compact Framework.
  3. Install the Compact Framework.
Caution: The Compact Framework (version 2.0) does not operate on Windows CE 2002 and on Smartphones 2003.
