A window control or a page control can be associated with an alphanumeric character, a keyboard key or a combination of keyboard keys, called "shortcut".
This shortcut gives direct access to the control from the keyboard (by selecting or clicking the control).
Note: By default, a shortcut can be defined from the caption of the control ('&' character found in front of the caption letter defined as shortcut). See the "& character" for more details.

Managing the & character in the window controls

By default, a shortcut can be defined from the caption of the control ('&' character found in front of the caption letter defined as shortcut).
The shortcut of the control will be [Alt]+[Letter following the &].
To display the '&' character in a caption, this character must be typed twice. For example:
  • "War&Peace" will be displayed as "WarPeace" (with [Alt]+[P] defined as shortcut).
  • "War&&Peace" will be displayed as "War&Peace".
To define how the '&' character will be interpreted, use ..InterpretAmpersand.
In order for the '&' character to be automatically inserted before the caption of the new controls, check "Automatic shortcut during control creation" ("Display .. Options .. Modify the options", "Controls" tab).In order for the '&' character to be automatically inserted before the caption of the new controls:
