Warning
From version 21, no Windows Store apps project can be created anymore. Only the projects in Universal Windows 10 App mode are available.
The Windows Store apps projects created with version 20 (or earlier) are automatically changed into projects in Universal Windows 10 App mode. See Developing applications in Universal Windows 10 App mode for more details.
Overview
WINDEV and WINDEV Mobile allow you to develop applications for the Windows RT and Windows 8 tablets (Windows Store apps applications).
The method for developing Windows Store apps applications with WINDEV (or WINDEV Mobile) is similar to the method for developing applications for WINDEV or Windows Mobile except for some differences. The test of the applications can also be run on the development computer in Windows 8.
Note:
To generate and check applications for Windows Store apps, you must install:
Creating a project for Windows Store apps with WINDEV or WINDEV Mobile
To create a Windows Store apps project with WINDEV or WINDEV Mobile:
  1. Click among the quick access buttons.
  2. Click "Project" in the wheel that is displayed. The window for creating a new element is displayed: click "Project".
  3. The wizard for project creation starts. Choose the name and location of your project. You have the ability to enter a short description of the project. Go to the next plane.
  4. Add (if necessary) design documents to the project. Go to the next plane.
  5. In the "Description - Type of project" plane, select "Windows Store apps application". Go to the next plane.
  6. Specify the location of the Windows 8 SDK, required to generate applications. If the SDK was installed, the setup path is automatically proposed ("C:\Program Files\Windows Kits\8.0\bin\x86" for example).
See Installing the Windows 8 SDK for more details.
  7. The rest of the wizard is performed like for any other platform. See Creating a WINDEV Mobile project for more details.

Analysis of a Windows Store apps project

A Windows Store apps project can be associated with an analysis. The data files can be in HFSQL Classic format.
Note: From version 19, HFSQL is the new name of HyperFileSQL.
Running the test of a Windows Store apps project
Several test modes are available for the Windows Store apps applications:
  • The Go of the project in the simulator of WINDEV or WINDEV Mobile.
  • The project execution in Windows 8 in RT mode.

Project Go in the simulator directly

This test starts a test window of the product in which the Windows Store apps application is run. This test allows you to use the debugger. However, several differences can be noticed compared to a real execution. Indeed, the simulation is using the PC and not the Windows 8 device in RT mode.

Run the application test in real: running the project in RT mode

The option "Run the application test in real" allows you to run your project in RT mode, from Windows 8 directly. The Windows Store apps application must be generated.
  • If the application was not generated, WINDEV or WINDEV Mobile proposes to generate the application.
  • If the application was already generated, it is automatically generated with the last generation parameters.
See Generating a Windows Store apps application for more details.
