From version 21, no Windows Store apps project can be created anymore. Only the projects in Universal Windows 10 App mode are available.
The Windows Store apps projects created with version 20 (or earlier) are automatically changed into projects in Universal Windows 10 App mode. See Developing applications in Universal Windows 10 App mode for more details.

To develop Windows Store App applications with WINDEV or WINDEV Mobile

Note: A project for Windows 8 can be created on any PC. However, to generate the application for Windows 8, the development computer must be running Windows 8.

Where to find the SDK for Windows 8?

The SDK for Windows 8 can be downloaded from the Microsoft site:

  • We recommend that you check whether updates are available for the SDK on a regular basis.

How to install the SDK for Windows 8?

Once the downloaded file has been run, all the tools required to develop a "Windows Store apps" application for Windows 8 are installed.
Note: The path of the setup directory of the SDK must be specified in the wizard for project creation.

Where to find the distributable libraries?

The distributable libraries required by Windows 8 can be downloaded from the Microsoft site at the following address: www.microsoft.com/fr-fr/download/details.aspx?id=5555.

How to install the package of distributable libraries?

Once the downloaded file is run, all the necessary tools are installed.
Developer license for Windows 8

What is a developer license?

A developer license for Windows 8 allows you to install, develop, test and evaluate your Windows Store apps applications on your PC or on your tablet. This license also allows you to distribute your applications on the "Windows Store".

How to get, renew and install a developer license?

To get (or renew) a developer license:
  1. Open the PowerShell interpreter in administrator mode. To do so, in Windows 8:
    • Display the search menu via [Windows] + [C].
    • Click "Find".
    • In "Applications", enter "Powershell" (1).
    • Right-click the "Windows PowerShell" result (2).
    • In the lower section of the screen, click "Run as administrator" (3).
  2. In the PowerShell interpreter, enter the following command line:
    Show-WindowsDeveloperLicenseRegistration
  3. A window is displayed, asking you to accept to renew the developer license for Windows 8. Click "I accept".
  4. A window is displayed, asking you to enter the information of a Microsoft account.
    • If you already have a Microsoft account, enter its characteristics and click "Connect".
    • If you have no Microsoft account, click "Registration". A wizard allows you to easily create a Microsoft account.
  5. The developer license is granted for one month.
