Warning
From version 21, no Windows Phone project can be created anymore. Only the projects in Universal Windows 10 App mode are available.
The Windows Phone projects created with version 20 (or earlier) are automatically changed into projects in Universal Windows 10 App mode. See Developing applications in Universal Windows 10 App mode for more details.
Overview
The generation of a WINDEV Mobile application for Windows Phone groups all the project elements (windows, code, etc.) in an archive in order for the application to be deployed on a Windows Phone device (physical or emulator) and to be distributed.
How to proceed?
To generate an application for Windows Phone:
  1. Start the generation wizard ("Workshop .. Generate the Windows Phone application").
  2. Specify the name of the application.
  3. Choose (if necessary) an icon for the application. This icon is used to make the application more visible in the menu of applications. The default icon will be used if no icon is selected.
  4. Specify (if necessary) the tile information:
    • A title.
    • A background image.
If you don't specify anything, the title will correspond to the name of the application and a default image will be used.
  5. Go to the next plane.
  6. Enter the general information about the application: the company name, the copyright and the application description.
  7. Specify the version number of generated application. This format is the standard format supported by Windows. This format corresponds to a set of 4 numbers separated by dots.
    • The first group of 4 digits corresponds to the number of major changes performed in the application.
    • The second group of 4 digits corresponds to the number of minor changes performed in the application.
    • The third group of 4 digits corresponds to the generation number.
We advise you to automatically increment this number at each generation. This increment operation is automatically performed if "Automatically increment the version at each generation" is checked.
    • The last group of 4 digits corresponds to the number of reviews (branches in the SCM for example).
  8. The application is generated.
Note: The generation is using the Windows Phone SDK. If the SDK is not installed, an error message is displayed.
Specify whether files and libraries must be included in the Android application. You have the ability to include:
    • specific resources.
    • specific images.
    1. Then, these files can be:
      • used directly (files to read for example: sound files, image files, ...).
      • extracted by fExtractResource (files to modify by the application for example).
Note: If an image is included in the Windows Phone application, it can be directly assigned to a control by specifying its name. For example, IMG_Image = image1
    2. The application is generated.
Note: The generation is using the Windows Phone SDK. If the SDK is not installed, an error message is displayed.

Copying the generated application onto a Windows Phone device

The generated application is copied onto a Windows Phone device:
  • during the test in the emulator ("Run the project test (Windows Phone emulator)" below the GO icon). The application is copied onto the emulator and started.
  • during the test on the device ("Run the project test (mobile device)" below the GO icon). The application is copied onto the mobile device and started.
Minimum required version
  • Version 16
